A Chinese auto supplier is planning to invest $15.3 million in its Orion Township facility for an expansion that is expected to create 102 full-time jobs.

Gov. Rick Snyder announced the investment today, saying he spoke about the potential expansion with leaders of Fuyao Automotive North America Inc.during a trade mission to China two years ago.

The company is expected to add equipment to enable it to manufacture auto glass assembly parts. The company, which is a subsidiary of Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co. Ltd., provides warehousing, assembly, repackaging, inspection, program management, engineering design and sales support services of automotive glass to North American automotive original equipment manufacturers, according to a news release from the state.

Since 2008, the Orion Township plant has employed more than 100 people, Fuyao Automotive North America President Chris Feng said in a statement.

The company was considering sites in Ohio, Alabama and Georgia before choosing Michigan, according to the release.

The state will assist the project with a $1 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant. Orion Township is expected to provide a property tax abatement as well.
