Northeast Florida building permits fall in June

The number of building permits issued in Northeast Florida slipped in June, marking the second consecutive month of declines.

There were 477 building permits issued across Northeast Florida in June, up from 350 in June 2012, but down from 544 in May, according to the latest data from the Northeast Florida Builders Association.

For the second quarter, building permits were up 53.2 percent. to 1,627, compared to the same period last year.

In the first half of the year, 3,024 permits were issued — up from 1,900 in the first half of 2012.

Northeast Florida is on pace to have issued more than 6,000 permits this year, which would be a 42 percent increase from 2012.
